These are a cassette system where most of the system mounts in the ceiling space and they have a fascia plate that has the air return grill in the middle and 4 outlet louvers (there are 1 and 2 louver types mainly for apartment or hotel type systems)

Ceiling Cassettes Ideal For Larger Areas

They look great, take up no wall or floor space. They are better used in larger areas, modern type houses or apartments that have open plan living, possibly little wall space due to large windows and the possibility of cooling being needed because of the building design.

One problem they can get around is the use of a condensate pump with a wall mounted system, just to be clear they still have a pump but it’s inbuilt and they just seem to be so much more reliable than the off the shelf ones used with wall units (if required).

Good option for heating and cooling, positioning needs to be considered as does ceiling height.

They can come as a single unit of be part of a multi split system, this is where you have one outdoor unit and multiple indoor units.
